This is one of the many phrases I live by. Sure.. it may have stemmed from being a lazy college student, BUT the fact of the matter is that I am doing one more thing to help the environment. It may sound gross to some people, but it is as easy as it sounds. If your laundry doesn't smell, it most likely isn't that dirty. I will give you grass stains, ink/paint stains, etc. Otherwise, it doesn't need washing!
Did you know?
That by cutting out just one load of laundry a week per household we would save enough water to fill seven million swimming pools each year. Wowzers.
So keep in mind: If it looks clean and smells clean, then it probably is clean!
Tips:
Hang worn clothing outside on a line to freshen up.
Get the wrinkles out by misting your clothes with water and using your hands to flatten them out.
I try not to wash more then necessary also! I have a high efficiency washer that I do feel better about since it does not use a lot of water and I do not have to use a lot of detergent also.

I try to do as little laundry as I can also, and when I do wash clothes it is always in cold water. Every little bit that we do helps....
ReplyDeleteI do wear some things multiple times without washing, such as pajamas and jeans, but after so many wears I feel the need to wash whether or not it smells. But I should re-wear shirts sometimes too, especially if I am wearing a tank top underneath.
ReplyDeleteIm definitely guilty of this i have to be honest. I am constantly washing clothes that somehow got thrown here or there and then forgotten about. After reading how much we could save by cutting back though I'll defintiely try to do better with conserving water and minimizing loads
ReplyDeleteThis is a good reminder to conserve resources, including our own! Less washing is good for the environment and good for saving our time.
ReplyDeleteSo many things ppl don't even think about, this is one for sure! I discovered you can refresh clothes that don't need washing by hanging them up and spritzing them with water bottle (uses hardly any water) and it will get out wrinkles - or go over jeans with a wet washcloth and hang to dry overnight/
