About Alegna
As a New York State licensed Medical Technologist, Angela has always loved biology and chemistry. Back in 1999 she went to her local library, took out a book on cold processed soap making and found a hobby. She started making soap for her personal use, for family and for friends. Fast forward a few years. With both of her children graduated from college, out of the house and self-supporting, she had some “me-time” to reflect on what she wanted to do. Angela loved making soap. She also remembered receiving a perfume making kit as a child and spending hours creating perfumes for her mother and her two sisters. Here was her “Aha!” moment. She did some research, took a few aromatherapy classes and also learned how to create other bath products - bath fizzies, hand lotion, body balms, and bath salts. Soon Angela had tons of people asking her to make products for them. One thing led to another and… Alegna Soap was born!My Thoughts
I was so delighted when sent such a nice selection of Alegna Soap products. I could practically smell the soap before opening the package! Angela sent me 2 bars of soap (Lavender Lemongrass and Peppermint Scrub), a jar of Lavender Sugar Scrub, and a pot of her Brown Sugar Lip Balm.
I loved the Lavender Lemongrass Soap. The scent was perfect. Combining two scents that I know and love together to create something deliciously fragrant. I love how this soap is topped with Calendula. The Peppermint Scrub was exfoliating and opened up my senses. Such a great soap to use before bedtime. This soap is the ultimate body treatment as it contains finely crushed apricot kernels to exfoliate, and cooling peppermint essential oil that invigorates to reveal a natural glow.
The Lavender Sugar Scrub was magnificent. I found it to be homemade quality (if you know what you are doing of course!) I really enjoy making all of my own products, but rarely have the time. Alegna Soap makes it easy to enjoy products of that caliber (if not better!) without having to spend so much time on them. This scrub contains Lavender essential oil mixed with Alegna's special blend of organic oils and sugar to exfoliate and quiet your mind. The Lavender scent really comes through, leaving me calm and relaxed, and the sugar leaves my skin feeling silky smooth.
The Brown Sugar Lip Balm is better than any lip balm I have ever made. It is hard at first, but after rubbing my finger on the top, it starts to soften. As it softens, it sends a light fragrance, reminding me of baked goods. This lip balm smells so good! I wish it were all natural, but it does contain a bit of red #40 dye. Doubtfully very much at all, but I do prefer the look of natural products without added dyes or fragrances.
