I have been trying to become more eco friendly when it comes to doing laundry. I have always hated the idea of pouring chemicals onto my clothes to "clean" them. I am sensitive to a lot of smells, and most dryer sheets seemed to have caused headaches or a rash. It has been years since I have even used them. So yes, I have suffered with crunchy towels and static laden clothing, but it was all worth it. Until I discovered wool dryer balls.
Thanks to
Maple Hill I no longer have to add the oils myself. They sell wool balls in several amazing scents that I cannot wait to try. I got a 2 pack of their Extra Large Lavender Vanilla Dream dryer balls. They are about as big as a softball, and using only 2 still seemed to do the trick! The wool balls lessen the amount of time your clothes need in the
dryer, prevent them from having static, and last for a very long time. I
like that they are all natural, and aren't being produced by a machine.
I sometimes like to add a few drops of essential oils to the balls so
that my clothes come out smelling fresh as ever.
I know it is a little backwards to start off with what I use to dry my clothes, but hey.. I sometimes tend to do things in reverse, and can't seem to force my silly brain to start over from start to finish. It is hard enough just typing words with the letters in the correct order. Maybe I have slight dyslexia, who knows?
Their logo is too cute not to show off!
As far as clothes washing goes, I really like to concoct my own detergent. Sometimes I feel a little lazy though, and don't feel like mixing together some ingredients before doing laundry. This is where
Molly's Suds comes into play. Molly's Suds is an all natural laundry detergent that is free or parabens, SLS, SLES or phosphates of any kind, harsh chemicals, and is not tested on animals. With Molly's Suds, a little goes a long way. One small bag is enough to do 70 loads of laundry! I have been using Molly's for awhile now, and I really like it. My clothes come out smelling fresh, feeling clean, and leaving me without worry. Molly's Suds makes a lot of awesome looking products that I have yet to try. For the moms out there, they even have a cloth diaper detergent. And for the sporty folks, they have detergent for your clothes too! They also carry dog shampoo (which I am in desperate need of trying.)
To find out more for yourself you can find Molly's Suds on their
website,
Facebook, or
Twitter.
I stopped using dryer sheets about 4 years ago, mostly cause we needed to cut down on spending money. Honestly, my towels come out better with out them! Next up is better detergent, Im hoping to start making my own one of these days!
